My daughter iscplanning to go to Paris in Nov for a few days (its her birthday pres to herself) she is currently in london for 2 yrs. She will be going by herself. Which would be the safest area for some one on there own

There are many, many safe areas in Paris. Does she want to be near anything in particular (for shopping, restaurants, historic sites...)? I'd recommend the 5th arrondissement, assuming she's fairly young and would appreciate being in an area with lots of students and fairly inexpensive shopping and eating opportunities.

ParisPerfect is a fabulous apartment rental company, but very expensive. Yes, your daughter would be safe in one of their apartments, but she'd also be safe in lots of other places for lots less money.

I'm not sure why someone would recommend an apartment rental company if your daughter is only going for a few days... like StCirq said, they're no more cost-effective than a hotel if you're renting for only a few days, and she's likely to be "safer" in a hotel.

I'm staying in the Marais right now and I feel totally safe (as a friend of mine said, this is the "gay area" of Paris, so none of the guys are interested in me).

That said, I agree with StCirq... find out what she's interested in and then look for a well-reviewed hotel in that area.

Hi L,

the 1 - 8 Arrondissements are where the tourists usually stay.

You can enter <Paris hotel> in the "search this forum" box for recs.

We always stay at the Hotel Bonaparte, 61 Rue Bonaparte in the 6th. From 128E dbl w/bkfst. It is located near 3 metro stops. Has AC and an elevator.

I stayed at Hotel du Louvre and found it to be in the middle of everything. I like the 1st arrondisement the best but would try other areas next time. I also stayed at the Clarion St. James and the rooms were huge, also in the first arrondisement.
