Where to stay around Munich
My wife and I will be driving in Germany and want to visit Dachau and Munich.
I would like to find a place maybe somewhere in the middle and use the car to get to Dachau and maybe the train to visit Munich, to avoid driving and parking in town.
Any ideas? Would if just be better to stay in Munich and find a place that has parking?

IMO it would be even better to stay in Munich and ditch the car entirely. However, unless Munich is your last stop then perhaps you need to find somewhere outside the center which provides (ideally free) parking. You do NOT need a car IN Munich; yes, it would be helpful to have one for your Dachau visit since Dachau is basically a Munich suburb. You can reach it from the city using a combination of S-Bahn train and local bus if you decide not to have the car.

Is Munich your last stop? If yes, I'd return the car after checking into my hotel. Dachau can either be seen on the way to Munich or as a public transport daytrip from Munich.
Or, if you will be in Munich for more than a couple - few days and then moving on to somewhere else, it may make sense from a financial sense (car rental and parking cost) to return the car and pick up a new one when you are leaving Munich. You need to work the numbers if this is the case.
I would prefer staying in Munich old town!
