Sorry, Traveler, I had forgotten you were getting a car with GPS which I'm sure is much better than my attempts to explain how to get out of Rome; we went for the simplest route not necessarily the most direct. But, yes, we took the inner ring road east and south around Rome and picked up A24 about mid-way south. Then east on A24 to the intersection of A1.

And just to add something new to the mix, although everyone should experience the autostrada at least once in their lives, the secondary roads that we drove were so much more charming and an relatively easy means of getting from point a to b. But that was north of Rome. Heading to the AC we did autostrada the whole way. There was a little traffic jam just north of Naples, then it was pretty much clear sailing.

Another thing we did was enter the AC from the Salerno end. Views were just as stunning, but I found more comfort being on the mountainside than the cliffside. Minor fear of heights.

Toni you have been so helpful. Two of us looked at the "the direct route" (which was directly through on city streets) and decided your "simple route" to be our preference! If you hadn't pointed out the simple route I am sure I would have struggled driving the city route. (which by my calculations it was aprox. 7mi.)

Thanks again.

PSGMARTINO,

I didn't realize that. I thought you were there in January. Perhaps it will be my turn to give advise then. Have decided to go ahead and book our rental car from the Galoppatoio location. Booked through Kemwel and got a confirmation with Europcar. I hope this turns out well.

Happy Travels!
