where to go in 4 days after Amsterdam

I will have spent 5-6 days in Amsterdam,(seeing the city, Delft and some coastal towns) then we want to go to Bruges. After that I'm not sure what to do. The US dollar being what it is, we don't want to fly anywhere, but will take the train or rent a car. Any suggestons about where to go in that area?

Take the train to any of the countries around Holland! They are all gorgeous and I love them all.

You could add Antwerp and Brussels to your Bruges visit... if you still have a couple of days, train to Paris and fly out from there. The train takes 1.5 hours from Brussels.

I agree with the Brussels/Antwerp recommendation ... particularly the Brussels part. Don't leave out Ghent though. Also, you could rent a car and drive through the Ardennes for a day or two - beautiful scenery, and if you are a history buff you'll appreciate that the Battle of the Bulge was fought there.

If you don't like where the US dollar is, try spending Canadian dollars!

Enjoy Brugges. It is one of my fave places in Europe!
