Where to Find Best Airfares?

Try searching first on kayak.com, and then see which sites consistently come up with the best fares. In other words, kayak is a giant search engine that scours the internet looking for your fares, then posts them with the corresponding websites. You have to go to the websites to purchase, cannot buy from kayak. They also have a "daily buzz alert" that you can sign up for, and it will e-mail you the lowest fares from your home airport from each previous day's search.
Some of the sites that frequently come up are www.cheaptickets.com, orbitz.com, flycheapabroad.com, 1800flyeurope.com, plus the major carriers' sites.
Good luck!

Kealoha,
I've been searching for a month. I'm flying from SF into Venice and returning from Greece to SF. Leaving May 8th, returning June 7.
best price I've found is $1,111. per person.
I've been using www.kayak.com. I also check the airline that is listed as giving the best fare on kayak.

I did not search from LAX but from SFO you can get a round-trip to London for $720 on the dates specified, and if you are willing to adjust your arrival date by a couple of days, you can get a very cheap flight from London to Venice and back on BMI which leaves from the same airport.

So if cost is an issue, you might consider the inconvenience of using London as a hub.
