Where to Eat in Barcelona
We'll be in Barcelona for a week and would love recommendations for restaurants and tapas bars. We're staying near the University on Ronda de la Universitat, and would especially appreciate recommendations ~10-15 minutes walking distance but don't mind traveling via taxi or metro. We would like Spanish or Catalan food with dinner for 2 with wine ~100€ or less. If there is some really special or great restaurant a bit more we'd love to know that too. Thanks !

We stayed on the same street 2 years ago. I remember walking to Tapas 24, which we really enjoyed. We took public transportation to 4 Cats and Xemei as well. We found a bar around the corner from our apartment that had great tapas and sangria and ate there a couple evenings. We dined at Monvinic and thought it was good but overpriced. All of our meals were probably 100 euros or less except for Monvinic.
Sorry my memory is not better!

Its a bit of a splurge, but I love Mont Bar which is in your neighborhood. If you don't go too crazy you can eat within your budget there. It is more fusion than Catalan or Spanish, but it is always excellent with some very creative dishes and super nice staff.

Another rec but not in your 'hood - L'Antic Bocoi in the Barri Gotic. Lots of tourists in there, but I went with friends who are locals who wanted to eat coca (a tasty local bread topped with various toppings.) It was a traditional meal and we ate and drank a lot for 25 euros pp. It was excellent so if you are in that area at some point consider checking it out. bocoi.net

We did Taste Barcelona wine and tapas tour with Paul. He owns the business and was great! He takes about 6 people to different restaurants for tapas and wines and tells you the history of Barcelona, Spain and the foods and wines you are eating. Highly recommend.
7 Portes is a good restaurant. We enjoyed our meal here very much!
Over by the waterfront, below the Westin hotel are a bunch of small restaurants. We ate in one if you are looking at the Westin it is to the right. Food was delicious! Wish I could remember off the top of my head. I will check and see if I wrote it down. It begins with a G.

Oh, and since it may be cold while you are there, the hot chocolate at Casa Amatller was fantastic. It's next to Casa Battlo. We didn't particularly enjoy the guided tour of Casa Amatller, but the hot cocoa was great in a lovely little on-site cafe.

I don't remember all the places we ate in Barcelona but probably the best meal of my life (or one of them at any rate, ) was at Dos Cielos - michelin rated - we had the tasting menu - and the view from the top floor of the hotelMe was amazing. If you can scrape up the pennies don't miss it https://www.timeout.com/barcelona/re...nts/dos-cielos

Oh boy, will you eat well in Barcelona! We stayed at the Murmuri, up by Diagonal and Rambla de la Cataluyna, in May. Here are some of the places we loved (You can search for my Trip report, too).
On Carerre Balmes: "had a wonderful dinner at L’Olive - Bacalla Esqueixat, some more potatoes, gazpacho, wonderful spring onions with Romesco sauce (I loved that!), beans with anchovies, and the typical tomato bread - theirs was the best we had on the whole trip. The cost of dinner for the three of us was 146E, well worth it!”

"Tragaluz for dinner. Great!! Loved it - the decor, the waitstaff, the food. The bread with tomatoes was great, and I had an almond gazpacho soup with melon that was dynamite. Mains were turbot, cod, and a pasta with pesto. Dessert was grilled tiny strawberries in a cream sauce - amazing. Total with wine and tea for the three of us was 173E - highly recommended.”

One I loved!! Paco Meralgo, not far from our hotel at C/ Muntaner, 171
"All seating except upstairs is on high bar seats along counters, and you order whatever tapas you want. It was outstanding. We had the ubiquitous tomato bread, rabbit with garlic, rice with sausages, potatoes brava with garlic, sort of zippy and delicious, cod croquettes, and burrata with pesto - a standout. And more. The waiter was a darling, and a riot. We had a blast. Bill was 82 E with drinks for three, and I would highly recommend it.”

SO many but definately stay clear from Las Ramblas.
Cerveceria Catalana- Example neighborhood
Quimet and Quimet- Great tapas
Xampanyet and there is a really good basque pincho place right across the street from Xampanyet so you can try both. Check hours before you go.
Pollo Rico- local place and cheap eats, place has been open for a long time. I order the roast chicken and fries. Neighborhood a bit seedy.

Razor clams for sure at PaComerAlgo.
Personally, I would not recommend Quimet. Crowded with American frat boys. Lots of conservas on the menu. Nothing remarkable there and way too jammed to be enjoyable.
As I wrote in that report, above, we were at Tickets the day after they opened in 2011. It might be a difficult seat to book but see if you can get in..it's fun, with good tapas. Might be easier to book now that Enigma, also from Albert Adria, is drawing the food obsessed and Instagram crowds.
