Where is the cable car to go up Mt Etna

Can anyone who has been to Mt Etna (Sicily) tell me where does one take the cable car?

We will be driving from Taormina - but not sure where is the parking lot and where can we take the cable car. I believe both the north and south part of the mountain has cable car access. The Etna region map looks very confusing to me.

Can any Fodorite please help? Thanks.

there are two access points but the most dramatic one and popular one i believe is the one on the south side - you have to go thru Nicolosi and then take a dicey road that could always be closed due to eruption activity - not sure of current status to the Sapienz Refuge where take a 4-wheel drive vehicle to the cable car - which at times is out of order due to recent past eruptions.

From Wikipedia:

There are 2 ways to get around on Mount Etna:

1) From Rifugio Sapienza (Etna south) during good weather, you can pay for a trip on a 4-wheel-drive vehicle + cable car (48€ A/R) about 800m nearer the top. In bad weather, you can walk if you are experienced and prepared for freezing weather.

2) From Piano Provenzana (Etna north) by walking to arrive on the summit Crater. This is a beautiful tour because it's possible to admire forests and lava sceneries.
