When I first saw this thread, I thought "oh, a little one-upsman-ship here" and I passed. But it occurs to me that we offer a lot of advice and commentary to those who need information on travel and it is fair that these people know where we have been. So, in that light, ....

Our practice is to pick a country, plan a detailed itinerary, rent a car and see as much of the country as we can.

Our travels: The 50 States, all the provinces and most of the territories of Canada, a good deal of Mexico (especially the Yucatan Penninsula), Bermuda (motor scooters here), Jamaica, Costa Rica, Peru, Chile, England, Wales, Ireland, Scotland, France, Italy, Germany, Netherlands, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Hungary, The Czech Republic, China (we did not drive here), Hong Kong (before reversion) and Macao/Macau.

In terms of receiving information from this Board, we will do Belgium in May and Poland in July if the World is in some semblance of order.

Whew - I needed a post not about the WTC (I was getting too gloomy).

I've been to: Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Netherlands, China, Japan, Bahamas, and Canada.

I wonder what places are on Fodorites "to visit" list:

I'd like to see more of Asia and also make a trip to Africa.

Europe: Belgium, England, Holland, Germany, Austria, Italy, Greece, Spain and France (I was only thirteen at the time but I'll never forget it. My family bought a Commer Highwayman in England and we camped around Europe for eleven months!)

Also spent a year in the Marianas Pacific (teaching ESL, grammar and composition to Chammoro, Japanese and Korean children). While down there I had the opportunity to go to Japan for a few weeks to help open a restaurant.

Now I am preparing to go back to France (to Paris) for the first time as an adult! Very excited...even though the events of the past week have put a damper on the whole thing.

To Joe: You said, "When I first saw this thread, I thought "oh, a little one-upsman-ship here" and I passed. But it occurs to me that we offer a lot of advice and commentary to those who need information on travel and it is fair that these people know where we have been. So, in that light, ...."

That's how I felt, too, but then I realized so many people rely on opinions and advice given here....and there is no other way to show credentials......it is really too bad that there is no way for people visiting here to have an easily accessible listing of the fodorites who regularly post here, showing vital statistics such as age range, the countries they have visited, the country they live in, the number of times they have visited each country and for how long each time. And wouldn't it be nice if the date of their first posting and the number of subsequent postings were listed, too.

Most states including Hawaii, excluding Alaska, England, Ireland, France, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Findland, Estonia, Italy, Germany, Austria; Greece and Turkey this June. We've visited by cruise most of the Caribbean Islands, stayed for a week or more on Bahamas & Jamaica. St Martin we visit for 9 days a yr and wish we could afford more! Some people live to eat, we live to travel! Great post, it's fun to see where other people like to visit.

Could I ask how you all can afford to travel to all these places? I'm trying to figure out a way to go to London for 5 days without my bank account going bust. Please tell me your secrets.
