An amazing thread! Raised in Orange County, CA. Lived in Colorado Springs, CO 8 yrs. Now happily living in wonderful Los Osos, CA.
I spent 1 year traveling the US to take in the diversity of the people and regions. An amazing country, but my heart will always be in the west, from the Rockies to the rugged coast.
Have traveled to various points in Canada, Central America, Europe, New Zealand and loved it all. Still so much to see.....

I was born in Belarus. Later in life moved to San Francisco, California (with travels "in between" of course!). Now, can somebody help me count the miles between those 2 places? Or kilometers

Born in Havre de Grace Maryland
Lived in:
Richmond, Vermont
Merced, California
Mossy Rock, Washington
Loveland, Colorado
Lewiston, Idaho
Minnie Ha Ha Springs, West Virginia (no, I'm not joking)
Dover, Tennessee
and finally Columbia, South Carolina
I was a "construction brat" if you will, as my father worked on dams and nuclear plants and we landed here. Oh yes indeed, I do believe it gave me the wanderlust! Go should be my middle name. Have travelled frequently, but mostly in the States and surrounding areas. Like cruising but don't love it, as I like to spend more time "exploring" and I find I don't get to do that with such short stops. But hey, its a "go"! My first european trip is in 10 days to Ireland and I'm chomping at the bit!
Great old post!

FainaAgain, according to webflyer.com it is only 5860 miles (9440 kilometers) from Minsk (MSQ) to San Francisco (SFO). Must seem a lot farther, though, huh?
I live in McLean VA, USA, but I am from West Mifflin, PA (home of Kennywood, in the Pittsburgh area).

I've lived in Canberra, Australia's national capital for 20 years. I was born near Sydney, and lived there and in Adelaide. I try to make myself useful on the Australia/Pacific and Asia forums, started lurking here in preparation for a long-planned (and hopefully long) visit to Italy and France and was immediately seduced by the sparkling wit and repartee I found. Can't resist a good argument, either.

Born in Los Angeles in mid 40's. Lived in West LA until early 70's. Any Palms Theatre people out there? -- I worked there for many years!!
Then moved to Sonoma County, California. Since '75 I live in Sebastopol, Sonoma County, California.
Thanks for the great question!

Born in Philly. Moved to Athens, Greece, at age four. Then to San Salvador, El Salvador, at age eight. Next, to Den Haag, Netherlands, at age twelve.
For six months between each of these overseas postings, we lived in the Washington, D.C. area. Returned to the States permanently at age fifteen.
Got my university degree in Miami, lived on an island in the Florida Keys for three years, then worked in law enforcement in Ft. Lauderdale for a few more years. Then, one long winter into late Spring, criss-crossed the USA as a passenger in an 18 wheeler. Am now a social worker living in a college town in North Central Florida.
Places I've visited: numerous cities in Germany and the Netherlands, Brussels, Istanbul, Paris, Pisa, several towns in Guatemala, Panama Canal Zone. Haven't been to Africa or Asia, but closest friend is Japanese, so her home town of Yokohama's always a possibility.
Sounds like a lot, but when stuff just comes along day by day in your life, that's all it is: your everyday life.
