Where do Dine in Brussels?

I will be spending a week in Brussels shortly and would like a few suggestions for restaurants. Are the menus in French, Dutch, Flemish??? Also plan to go to Anthwerp and the coast of belguim. Any advice would be helpful

There are plenty of restaurants on Rue des Bouchers Beenhouwerstraat in Brussels. The seafood is set out in huge displays in font of the restaurants.

For low cost lunch have a bucket of mussels and a beer, in Brussels or Antwerp.

Menus and everything else in Brussels is in French and Dutch (the same as Flemish) by law. Thus, the two names for the street I mention above. In Antwerp Dutch is used.

If you are willing to go beyond the Rue des Bouchers in the Grand'Place area, you will find much better and more "authentic" (FWIW) restaurants elsewhere in Brussels. First though, what kinds of food do you like and what is your price range? Are you willing to go beyond the main tourist area of the Grand'Place?
Also, you will find that many places do NOT have menus in French and Dutch (Flemish). Perhaps they are supposed to, but the rule is routinly flouted (by law, people are supposed to clean up after their dogs, too, but very few do).

I've heard that Belga Queen is a great place. It was just written up in Conde Nast Traveler May 2004 (Hot list). The article is called "Hot Tables 2004." It's described as contemporary Belgian cuisine with entrees ranging from $17 to $55. I've heard lunch is much more affordable. If you're into beer and brew pubs, there's a great place in Leuven (also a great town that's an easy trip, 30minutes by train) called Domus. Unless things have changed in the past few years, it's the smallest brewery in Belgium. If you do decide to visit Leuven, you'd also get to see the largest brewery in Belgium - Interbrew, the maker of Stella Artois. You can do a tour of that brewery complete with a tasting at the end.
Lots of places have menus in English and even if they don't you shouldn't have any problem. Belgians (and Dutch) in Flanders speak English better than people in any other European country (outside of England, of course).

If you want to know what Belgians think of their restaurants, go to www.resto.be. Thousands of restaurants listed, with numerical ratings and comments (in French/Dutch) provided. Maybe the thing to do is check the guidebooks and then cross reference the resto.be site. The best restaurants are generally not on Rue des Bouchers. Here are a couple of good ones: En Face de Parachute and De La Vigne a l'Assiette.

Belga Queen is a good choice; I've been recommending it here for a few months. Dinner will easily reach the $100 per person range, but they have lunch specials in the $15 per person range. A few other places worth checking include Lola, Les Brasseries Georges, Entre Nous, L'Arrossoir, and Les Perles de Pluie.

There is this one area called the Ilot Sacre in Brussels that have all these restaurants on both sides of the narrow streets.
Anyway, the restaurants looked like tourist traps similar to the Greek restaurants in Paris on rue St. Severin.
If anyone has eaten at the Ilot Sacre how is the food there?
