Where can I stay near MXP?

I;m finding that all the hotels are booked in Milan on Apr 22 - that is, the ones I can afford. Apparently there is a furniture trade fair going on. I have an early morning flight out of MXP on Apr 23. Is there a nearby town I can stay in that will offer public transportation to MXP, or a reasonably priced cab ride?

there are hotels at the airport itself. Are they booked as well?

Hello orangetravelcat, if you cannot fine a hotel room at MXP here is where I have stayed the night before a flight home from MXP.

It is just north of MXP.

There are 3 very close to MXP with shuttles:
Hotel Cervo---a basic 3 star
Hotel First--a modern 4 star business hotel
Villa Malpensa--a nice 4 star but pricey.

I am told there is another but I do not recall it now.

I've never had the need to stay here but, for years, business friends highly recommend the Hotel Villa Malpensa.

How sweet. Thank you.

Some say absence makes the heart grow fonder. I'm sure that depends on the heart. We shall see. Some things have certainly changed around here and it looks like a Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval is appropriate. I see there's a Lounge now and the -ites sure get a chance to vent. And all subjects are on the table. I think that's a good thing.

Speaking of toe-dipping temptation, Hotel Villa Malpensa has a lovely pool. It's definitely not your ordinary airport hotel. For folks who have a dreadfully early flight, I hear this is the best choice for a relaxing, stress-free night before travel.

OTC--We had this same problem 3 yrs ago with finding a room in Milan and were told that the event was the largest furniture expo in the world--also in April. We stayed at Hotel Cardona and liked it. Shuttle service to and from airport (if you take airport shuttle bus from Milan it will take you to MXP) is complimentary. This hotel had great bathroom, new KS bed, and breakfast even had quiche on the buffet. HC was redone and had good noise control windows--very quiet for sleeping.
