No worries, Statia! Another option is to order the card before you leave from a service like Telestial. This is not the most cost-effective option ($49 for the TIM and $7 worth of call time), but it does save you the hassle of looking for a place to get one after you get there. For some people, it might be worth it.

Thanks for the info, Carmen. The mail receipt situation can be a bit difficult on the tiny island where I live, so it's probably better I just purchase the card when I'm there, rather than have it get lost enroute to me.
Do you know if $50 is an average price to buy a pre-paid SIM in Italy, also? I have only bought them here where I live and in the US and have never paid over $25.

Carmen, just out of curiosity, do you know what the line:
"Assistenza: SI"
means in the address you gave?
If I take the all capital "SI" as a word, it obviously then means:
"Assistance: YES"
But then, what does that mean?
