Hi
there's only one set of Catacombs that I'm aware of, at Place
Denfert-Rochereau.
In case you don't know, they are not
ancient Catacombs a la Rome, but date from the 18th century when some cemeteries were emptied and the bones thrown into former quarry pits.
Years later the outer layers of bones and skulls were arranged into vast walls and "artistic" arrangements that one sees on the tour.
here are some websites
www.infiltration.org/catacomb.htm
www.all-paris-hotels.com/catacombs.htm
www.paris.org/Musees/Catacombes
/info.html
www.campus.ecp.fr/~slyv
Ditto what elaine wrote. just a couple of comments: We had a little difficulty finding the entrance to the Paris Catacombs. Additionally, once we came back up to ground level, we had no idea where we were (and our tourist pop-up map didn't cover that part of Paris). Also, note that these Catacombs require a pretty long walk, if for some reason you are not very mobile.

The post above is correct. I scanned a couple of pics from the catacombs and you can see them on my site, along with a few other touristy pics.

http://www.brong.com/modules.php?op=...ery&file=index

Paste that url into your browser

Catacombes were rock quarries - you can see the bones and skeletons from way back when from old cemetaries. Has received mixed reviews. Bring a flashlight. Here's information:

Catacombes - are open Tuesday to Sunday 2:00-4:00 and in addition Saturday and Sunday mornings from 9:00-11:00.
location is at 1, place Denfert-Rochereau
Metro Denfert-Rochereau
Tel: 01-43-22-47-63
Note: You do not exit the Catacobes at the same place you entered - the exit is at a different location (in case you're meeting someone).
