Wher e to stay in Barcelona

Hey there, I just wanted some info on places to stay in Barcelona. My friends and I would like to be close to the beach but have no clue where to go and what is reasonable. Anybody have some suggestions?

Close to WHICH beach? The beaches in Barcelona are not really nice. Much nicer beaches can be found in Sitges / Casteldefells to the south or in Costa Brava to the north.

If going to the beach is very important for you, then try staying in those places.

If not, then look for a hotel in the Eixample area. A reasonable rate for a comfortable hotel should be less than 100 euros.

I agree. The beach in Barcelona is not that nice. Kind of skanky really. You'll be disappointed if that's what you're going for. Take the previous poster's advice and either leave Barcelona to find a REAL beach or stay in Eixample for a cheap place to stay.

Roger:

You are already getting answers on this post. There is no need to post a different one.

IMHO, the beaches on Costa Brava (to the north) are much nicer than the beaches on the Costa Daurada (to the south). Tossa is a very nice beach. I would rent a car to move around.

Forgive me, I'm new at this. So, is Tossa de Mar or Sitges far? How would I get there from Barcelona?

Not gay and don't really care. Unless it will be a sea of men in nasty speedos. That's just wrong.

Sitges is easier to get to than Tossa. To get to Sitges just take the Cercanias line 2 train (from Sants or Passeig de Gracia stations) in the direction of St Vicent. You'll be there in 30-40 minutes.

The only way I arrived in Tossa was by car.
