When to go Where: Barcelona and Rome in March/April/May

Hi. My husband and I are planning a long trip in Europe next year, where we will base for a month at a time in different locations (his job allows him to work remotely) and rent apartments. We have basically settled on Barcelona, Paris, and Rome (although would consider other locations in Spain or Italy, perhaps). What I can't figure out is how to order the trip..mostly based on weather but also on transportation I suppose.
The only limitation is that we do not want to be in Italy in April for personal reasons not worth getting into here. My original thought was to do Spain in March, France in April, and Italy in May. Another option is for Italy in March, Spain in April, and France in May.

I am really curious as to peoples thoughts. The average temperatures in Rome and Barcelona for March seem almost identical (and I know it's impossible to know what March weather will bring...).
Thanks!

I realized I probably should add that we will either be flying to London, and getting to our first destination from there via plane or train, or we will fly directly to the first country (we have miles on British Airways). While ease of transportation is a factor, I did not want to do Paris first because I thought it's weather was the worst of all three in March..

personally, i would do Barcelona last as the beach will be more appealing then.

that gives you Rome in March, Paris in april, and Barcelona in May.

easter sunday is april 8th so you will have left Rome by then, which is probably a good thing.

sounds like a wonderful trip.

Thanks. That may be a good idea, I hadn't thought of doing it that way. Although we're not super concerned about it being beach weather..
