What's your age and how many countries have you visited?

OK, so I tried posting this about 20 minutes ago, but I don't think it took.

I just booked a trip to Argentina for November, and got to thinking how fortunate I am to have travelled as much as I have.

I'm 26 - just turned it on Sunday - and have been to 27 countries. After November, it'll be 28.

I know I've got a lot more to go, but I feel so blessed and wonder what other fodorites' ages are and the number of countries you've visited?!?!

Cheers!

Age??? If I tell you I'd have to kill you. I feel extremely fortunate to have visited 7 countries.

I first went to another country in 1948 (never mind how old I am - I don't), and I've never counted.

93 and 87 countries, or is that 87 and 93 countries?

Does it really matter?

I just turned 40 this past week (weep for me!! -- actually, I am cool with it).

I've made countless number of trips overseas, but unfortunately as far as this thread is concerned, they've all been to a small handful of countries.

I've been to:
the US (my home)
Canada
Mexico
the USVI (at least seven times - family there)
Ireland (at least six times - family there)
the UK.

By next year, I expect to have at least three more countries to add to the list.

Do the USVI count as a "country"? One of the problem with questions re number of countries visited, is defining "countries". I've been, for example, to Hong Kong, Puerto Rico, Northern Ireland, Gibraltar -- do they count as "countries"?

I haven;t beeen to that many - 36 I think - since my work allows limited time for travel.

But you still have a ways to go. I have a friend in her mid 40's - partially retired - who has been to more than 100 countries. But - then she is definitely a traveler (up the amazon by canoe in rainly season) not a tourist (which I am).

No need to ask again. Here's the thread that asks the same question, but politely omits age. It was started 3 years ago and includes some recent updates.

40 (my god, still can't get used to saying it) and let see:

NZ
Australia
Indonesia (Bali)
USA
Canada
England
Scotland
Wales
Austria
Germany
Czech Rep
Italy
France
The Emirates
Haven't included the Vatican and haven't included airport only stops

It doesn't seem many compared to some of you other fodorites. It seems I have a way to go.

Soon to be 43 years old and I've been to 24 countries. Will not likely get to that many more as I seem to have fallen in love with France and Italy.

I've been to France 4 times and Italy 4 times and the plan next year is Provence.

49 and about 35 countries.

Some several times, some many times, others once. Have crossed and stayed above the Arctic Circle 3 times. Have lost count crossing the Atlantic Ocean (about 120+ times). Pacific Ocean only twice (there and back).

Husband loves travelling too and fortunately our son caught the travelling bug too. He's 13 and has been to 13 countries and crossed Atlantic 20+ times already.

BTW, lwinokur, it's impressive that you have been to 28 and are 26 yrs.

By the time I was 26 I've been to 24 countries, I'm sure you'll have plenty more to visit during the coming years!
