What's in Girona (Spain)?

There's seems to be not a lot of info about Girona town (outside Barcelona).
Can you pls share what's special about Girona?
How long is the train ride from Barcelona?

TIA!

Hi p3t0t,
We just returned from Barcelona, Costa Brava & Girona. You can click on my name & read my trip report.

We spent 2 nights in Girona, stayed at the Hotel Historic, which I highly recommend. We loved Girona! It is a beautiful city with an old Jewish Quarter. We stayed next to the Gothic catheral in the old quarter. The River Onyar runs through Girona & the scene is lovely, with reflections of the colored buildings in the water.

We toured the Cathedral, visited the art museum, walked along the old wall, which was very interesting & gave us great views of the city. On Saturday mornings there is a fantastic outdoor market in the park, where we bought ham, cheese, olives, bread, pastries & candy. There is also a daily market near the river. You can also visit the Arab Baths, which we didn't have time to do. We had some great meals & I give the restaurant names in my report.
