Do not regret missing Andalusia in July as (other poster said) it'll be very hot. I'd have opted for small towns in Aragon (Albarracín area), midway Madrid to Barcelona, but if it's gotta be Morocco...

If I had the option, my choice would be 1st Morocco, 2nd Spain, 3rd Portugal

I lived and worked in Morocco (Rabat, the Capital) for about a year back in the 1950's. I drove thru much of that Country and knew it well. I recognized many of the places (like Hassan's Tower) in Rabat, where much of the movie 'Blackhawk Down' was filmed. I wouldn't go back to visit Morocco unless I had a minimum of a week to devote to it.

I am a fan of northern Spain; no, not Barcelona, nor San Sebastian, further west: Bilbao, Santander (which has some of the nicest beaches you can find, anywhere), and Galicia where I especially like Santiago de Compostela and Vigo, although a little town on the Atlantic shore I would go back to is VilaGarcia de Arousa, less than an hour by Bus from Santiago. Playa Samil in Vigo is also a nice beach as are Baiona and Islas Cies.
There's a Fiesta de Santiago in Santander a week before Santiago (25 jul). I'm sure the kids would like that.

Another opinion urging you to skip Morocco. A daytrip to Morocco, especially Tangier is not worth it. If you do you will be so happy when you get back to Spain. I would not interupt an amazing trip to Spain with a quicktrip to Morocco, which could spoil the fantastic Andalucian vibes you will be experiencing. I hope you get this post before your trip.
