Thanks to Sue for the suggestion. And to everyone else who had websites, etc... Will make my search easier, I hope.

I don't have a "worst" - but I'll never stay at the Hotel de Seine! My "best" has been the Hotel Aviatic on rue de Vaugiraud in the 6th, but close to Montparnasse. Lovely hotel, near several metro stations, many restaurants, and in a non-touristic area, easy walk to Luxembourg Gardens. Mostly Europeans staying there, instead of Americans. Quiet at night, unlike many of the places near St. Germain de Pres. Not as convenient to walk to the Seine, but I preferred the location, being among the Parisians rather than the tourists.

Sorry about the misprint--the correct email for Grand hotel Jeanne D'ar is:

<[email protected]>
< BR>Incidentally, about 2 weeks ago we stayed at the Hotel St. Thomas D'Aquin (Jeanne D'Arc was fully booked(, and had a very large double that had been completely refurbished along with the rest of the hotel within the last year or so. The bathroom was quite modern and well equipped (shower doors!!!), and the bedroom was well furnished. For a 2-star in the St. Germain de Pres area, it was a pleasant surprise.

Denyse

Denyse,

Was the hotel St. Thomas D'Aquin air conditioned? If it was not was it cool enough for a good sleep in Paris in July? Thanks for the info.

No, The St. Thomas D'Aquin is not air conditioned, but it was not too warm when we were there 2 weeks ago (unseasonably cool and seasonably rainy!), and on the warmest day, we opened the window. It was quite pleasant.

And again, the double we had was completely refurbished and the bathroom, while small, was quite nice, including a glass shower door.

Denyse

There are alot of favorable comments about it here. If you do a search for the name you will find them.

Jeanne d'Arc is apparently very popular so I'd advise to book in advance. I just started my trip so it was already too late and that's 2 months in advance. I haven't seen anything on the hotels I checked (see Paris Hotels message) that have rooms, hopefully they are not horrible.

There was a whole long horrible story about the Esmeralda being the worst. It has been deleted. Is this a hotel that Fodors promotes in its books?

Does Fodors delete negative comments about hotels that it recommends?
