What to pack?

It would be helpful to know what sort of traveller you are, what kind of activities you enjoy, if you like to play "dress-up," what your budget is and what class of hotel you'll be booking. If someone suggests backpacker-style packing for someone planning to stay at 5* hotels it's a waste of everyone's time.

A simple way to work out what to pack is to look at a site such as weather.com - this indicates the temperature that you can expect. Then work out (either mentally or physically) very roughly what you'll be doing (beach/evening dress/sports/etc) and how often, and pack an outfit for each. Of course different items can be combined, and you should take this into account. As for how much - how many changes do you make daily? If I were in your position I'd be looking to change around three times each day: daywear, sportswear for gym/swim/beach, then something for the evening. However, you may want more/fewer changes.

Less is More. Pack half what you think you need. You can always buy thing when you are there.

Here's what you do. Take 1 rolling bag, and 1 largish soft bag that you can stuff your purse into for carryon. Pack for 7 days and plan to wash things half-way through. (Assuming you are female ..)
In roll-on:
5-7 dressy t-shirt type tops
1-3 overshirts or light sweaters to wear over tops
5 prs pants, shorts or slacks depending on your daytime plans
2 skirts or jumpers (or more, and fewer pants)
1-2 dress-up evening outfits. Maybe a nice scarf/wrap.
comfy daytime sandals
dressy evening sandals
7x undies, sox, etc
1-2 pr jammies
1 swimsuit, 1 cover, 1 smallish towel
sunscreen, sunglasses, sun hat
toiletries, medicine, etc
small umbrella
extra books, maps, etc.
A softside lunchbox containing a picnic
kit: corkscrew, cutting board and knife, ziplok bags, cups, towlettes, tablecloth, etc.
======================
Everything should match everything else, and nothing should wrinkle easily. If this is too much stuff, skip the things you can buy over there (sunscreen, picnic stuff, umbrella, etc).
========================
Not packed, but worn: 1 shirt, 1 sweater or jacket for warmth, 1 pr slacks, comfy walking shoes for every day, with nice sox so you can take your shoes off on the plane.
======================
In carryon bag: purse ($, Id, tickets, itenerary, contact numbers, passport, etc), toiletries & medicine for one overnight on plane. Travel books (1 tourguide, 1 novel), snacks, music, comfort stuff. Camera, film.
Now, what did I forget ....
