If you had six days in Veneto how would you divide it up?

It depends on your interests and whether you will have a car but here's one possibility: <BR>Three days in Venice (with possible side trips by Vaporetto to Murano, Burano and Chioggia), one day in Verona, one day driving (or by ferry)around Lago di Garda, and one day seeing the smaller towns of Montagnana, Este and Monselice which are close to one another. Other good choices would be Padova, Vicenza, Bassano del Grappa, Treviso, Belluno and the Dolomites.

How far is Lago di Garda from Venice? Why would I want to drive around a lake? What's so special about that?

Definitely don't miss the islands of the Venezian lagoon (esp. Murano, the island of glass, and Burano, the island of lace). There most of the people you find will actually live there (as opposed to Venezia where most people are tourists), and you will have a site into the lifestyles. Lago di Garda is definitely worth a day. The drive along the western side of the Lake (although only the eastern side is in Veneto) is magnificient with the contrast between the lake and the mountains. There are many cities along the way to stop and sightsee including Sirmione, Desenzano, Salo, Gardone, Limone and Riva.
