What to do in Rome on Mondays?
From my research I see that many sites are closed in Mondays in Rome, does anyone have any suggestions for that day? Maybe a day trip outside of Rome, but where? or any other sites in Rome that are open during Mondays? Any suggestions or ideas will greatly help! thanks again!

Hello cali, you don't say how long you will have to enjoy Rome but I will say that one of the wonderful things to do in Rome is to walk. Walk along the Tiber River, walk through the Borghese Garden which is so peaceful and delightful, walk into the residential areas. Most travellers only see the sites and sights but to really get a wonderful feel for Rome walk, walk and walk. Check out the English Cemetery. There is a thread here on Fodor's about a Rose Garden in Rome which I have never seen and wish I had. If you want a lovely day trip you can take the train from the Termini Station to Orvieto which takes about an hour. Almost all travellers that have been to Orvieto love it. But again, walking away from the main tourist areas in Rome you may find that it would be a day that you will really enjoy. Stop at a cafe where the locals congregate and take a break with a drink and/or a sandwich. Anyway, that is how what I have loved to do not only in Rome but in other cities and towns.

The Roman Forum/Colosseum/Palatine Hill complex is open on Monday, as are the Baths of Caracalla (until 2 pm). The churches are all open (although most close from noon or 1 pm until 3 or 4 pm); they house some of the greatest art in Rome.

Campo dei Fiori, Piazza Navona, the Jewish Ghetto (the museums are open Sunday through Thursday. There is a museum and ruins and delicious restaurants), take the train to Frascati, wander and walk....you will find little unknown museums that are open, save the Spanish Steps and Fontana di Trevi for Monday, St. Peter's in Chains, etc, etc. You can never get bored in Rome on Monday.
