What to do in Hockley?

As a one-day side trip during our September visit to London, my wife and I plan to visit friends in Hockley, which I understand is a 90-minute train ride out of London.

We were thinking of arriving a bit early and doing a bit of looking around. Is there anything to see?

I did a search on this site and came up with nothing.

HI Bruce - can you clarify in which county your friends live? If it's Hockley in Essex then it's very close to Southend-on-Sea, which is a very traditional British seaside town. Let us know!

If you mean Hockley in Essex I don't imagine there is much to do except just walk around or visit a pub. It is a small town near Southend.

There is a Hockley Heath south of Birmingham - again just a small village/town like 100's of others all over the UK. Not a tourist destination just a pleasant village.

Gee, I didn't know there was more than one Hockley.

All I know is that we are supposed to take a train from London's Liverpool Station. Does that help at all?
