I'm 100% aware that Kylie is Australian. However, all of her 20 top ten hits were in the UK, and its the first place I heard her. Therefore, she reminds me of England.

This is WOT, but I went to a gathering in Jersey last year, and the icebreaker-game consisted of pinning the name of a famous someone on each attendee's back, and having that person ask others questions in an effort to identify him/herself.

I was labeled "Kylie Minogue."

It took me about a half-hour to determine that I was the only one in the room who had never heard of her.

Ani, What reminds me on England is "Mind the Gap" - an expression now used on our railways. I wish I had bought the T shirt (or at least seen the movie).

OK, we are all British legally, but we all think of ourselves as English, Scottish or Welsh.
Why not make a bit more of St. George's Day which is also Shakespeare's birthday?
Give us the day off and let the Scots and Welsh have a day off for St. Andrew and St. David.

The programme is a Dutch idea, and Galloway the kind of grandstanding "personality" (=ego-on-stilts) politician I associate with a much less party-dominated system - like (cough) America's - and he's a Scot anyway (albeit the kind that has Scots saying "Ah kent his faither&quot.
