HI-this is Parrot Mom—I have five parrots-heaven help me—a mouthy 5 1/2
year old african grey, Mellie, a 5 year old Senegal-Godo, who I really
think is a girl, a three or four year old (I forget at this minute) Blue
Fronted Amazon, Feigel=with an attitude—a Mini-Hahn’s-S’allie (for
that’s all) who doesn’t know he’s a small macaw who hasn’t met a toy she
hasn’t wanted to destroy and last but not least psyco Larry the normal
grey cockatiel—The grey is my pride and joy, she talks she sings, she
takes showers with me and is a pain in the butt–no peace and quiet—but I
love her to death....

Spoiled—let’s put it this way I have a refrigerator full of bird seed
downstairs (never use it until it’s been frozen 48 hours and then mixed
with goodies) there is nothing in the refrigerator upstairs for my
husband to eat—all the veggies and frozen stuff is for the guys and they
get toys galore—Not only that there is somebody in the town we live in
that has a large craft store and I buy his scraps of wood for the guys
to chew—down to toothpick size..

Love some of the hints of traveling—

Yes, we went to Costa Rica in Feburary-but didn’t see anything—we didn’t take the right trips......but I’ve been in Cozumel on the balcony when two red fronted amazons flew by to the jungle—I was so excited. I walk around with nutriberries and dog biscuits—In the Puerta Plata I discovered a bird in a Kiosk-owned by an american man and his mother—long story and I was feeding it nutriberries—every day I went to-the mall.

don‘t hesitate to write to me

To add to these great ideas:
I brought a length of nylon cord (purchased in a camp supply store and cut) and a few small plastic clothes pins. You can get quite creative finding a place to hang your laundry!
Also--we found a small plastic squeeze bottle of waterless hand sanitizer--I think the brand was Purell or something. Great for quick-cleaning hands when a sink wasn't around. Especially after using tourist handrails, etc.
A small amount cleans your hands and then evaporates! We're not clean-freaks,but found
this handy! Particularly with our kids.
Have fun.

AJ - WORD OF WARNING! You may be surprised to get a response to your question re DEPENDS from a woman but can I suggest that you keep one or two spares in your wallet or your partners handbag. We travelled to Amsterdam last year and British Airways lost our case - yes, you guessed what was in it. We were without the case for two days and had a terrible problem finding a store that sold them. I guess we must have just been looking in the wrong places - I mean they must sell them in Amsterdam of all places!!!! Anyway, eventually we found a pharmacy that was open but it was not much fun trying to find somewhere and lost us a lot of valuable sightseeing time!!! Have fun!

It will do in a pinch, but shampoo is not really the
best product for washing clothes due to the oil
conditioners added to most shampoos. Anyway, if
you're going to use it for both your hair and washing
clothes, you'll just need to pack more shampoo
anyway, so you might as well pack appropriate
detergent. Suggestion for the one planning an
all cotton knit wordrobe: well, certainly wrinkles
aren't a problem with cotton knits, I don't understand
that comment; either folded flat or rolled, they don't
wrinkle or hold wrinkles. How long are you planning
on traveling, anyway, that you need to do laundry
so much? Underwear I could see, and maybe socks
if gone more than 2-3 weeks, but really. I travel
with only a small carryon pilots case and a much
smaller duffle bag for up to 3 weeks to Europe and
don't do laundry except for underwear. I don't do
sports, though, so my clothes don't get that dirty or
sweaty, and I may wear a pair of socks 2 days
(so call me a pig, I don't care--I change and wear
nylon stretch socks for evening/nights with
dressier slacks/skirts) before putting in laundry.
Anyway, you might reconsider at least
the underwear--I prefer cotton knit underpants for
everyday because they are more hygienic and
comfortable, but for travel, try some of that new
microfiber synthetic stuff--it dries in a jiffy and takes
up hardly any room; bras are made of this and
other nylon/synthetics, also.
Oh, if you need more suggestions, you can buy
those sink stopper things at any home center,
good large drug store (not just a pharmacy),
or any decent large grocery store.
