Scarlett-loved the Elvira report. She has just disappeared from the site and no one knows what happened? Strange...

I like anyone who writes with enthusiasm and honesty. Sorry I don't remember names but there was a great one from a mom traveling with two teens thru Italy awhile back. More recently one young guy who was posting as he traveled starting at Amsterdam.

For me I don't really care about details of what people do each day or where they eat and all because everyone's so different. For that kind of information I find it more helpful when people reply to a specific question, continuing to participate on the forum after their trip and share specific details in that way.

There are some really funny ones floating around. Some of them are posted at this thread :
Idle a while with some wit - On the US Forum. http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34794583

Italybound: Parts 1 & 2 to the Tenessee Trio Reports are on there as well

"Loved Turkey in the Straw," by ThinGorjus.

But it's true, there are too many reports where I've laughed out loud to even recall. They're all great -- evne the ones that don't try to be funny are a pleasure.

Spending WAY too much time on this but I just finished Theresa's trip to Italy with the family-what a treat. Tears rolling down my face from laughing. I read the Tennessee trio's terror trip to Paris also-that SharonG is a crack up!

I just love anything written by monica pileggi. She is so unpretentious and down to earth. It is a pleasure to read about Italy from someone who is so grounded.

I can't stand trip reports written by snoots.

I haven't read them all so it seems a bit unfair to pick...BUT the way Travelgirl is letting us all go along on her summer trip WITH her is nothing short of heroic.

I am sure she is using lots of valuable time typing away on her trip report!

Also, Degas and JJBhoy!

Loved Tenessee trio report in the genre of the Southern novella...with a bit of "The Devil Wears Prada- Elvira/Degas" twist...also someone's last minute trip to Italia was a great read...For sheer information, you cannot beat Ira...In the not too distant past...ThinGorgus comes to mind...There are just too many talented and devoted travellers to choose from...

Although I have to admit Degas is a close second! I just found another Degas one! Thanks, Degas!

Italybound07, thanks!

I enjoy both the humorous reports and the informative ones, or both in one report!

Elvira has become a Fodor Urban Legend, she did have the gift of writing.

A word to those who will write reports, don't be intimidated by this thread! All reports have their own value.

KYBourbon: Thank you so much for sharing Theresa with us. Somehow I had missed her report, and your URL was a present. Theresa is worth a trip to Detroit. Common sense and big heart.

As to Elvira--she's in a league all her own. God Bless!

I've read oodles of good reports over the years, but one I particularly enjoyed recently was jmw44's Swiss Retreat--A Trip Report of Interest to Few. The title is certainly a misnomer because she had many responses.

I tend to read the Ireland trip reports but do read many others too. I like those with a sense of humor. Some of my favorites are:

The Sheep Survived, But My Mirror Got Mangled - Crazy Mina's (Mis) Adventures In Southwest Ireland (pictures two...and TAKE TWO!)

Wojazz3's adventures in Ireland:

Barb's report: This is Why I Will Always Travel Solo From Now: Trip Report -Rome and Sorrento

Caution this one is extremely long but excellent.

Well!! Just spent too long reading Barb's "I'll always travel solo from now on report". My house is a mess, the dog is whining to go out, my vision is blurred and carpal tunnel has set in but what a story!! Thanks for linking. I'll be reading the rest over the next few days. That one had to set a record for the number of posts alone.

Is Barb still out there?!

Hi, I am indeed still here, alive and kicking and getting very excited about my upcoming trip 9/29!! and, you guessed it, solo mio. Of course my trip report will not be quite as angst-ridden or controversial as the last, I'm sure, but hopefully somewhat interesting.
