I want a cable lock for my suitcase that has a key lock, not a combination. I want a new shoulder bag that will hold the video camera and the digital. One that I can pull around front so I can keep an eye on my stuff. Backpacks are no good in my opinion.

.....I don't really have anything on my list, but my sister and her husband are going to Spain in the spring, so I tried to put together something different for them.
I got them each a waist and neck pouch, and filled them with all sorts of travel size items that they will need on their trip, as well as a couple hundred euros in various denominations. I also threw in a Spain guidebook and photo calendar for her birthday.
Of course, the euros are the main gift, but I think she will be glad to not have to hunt down all the travel size items, nor a good guidebook, when the time comes.

My husband and I are getting each other luggage for Christmas for our upcoming trip to Italy in the Spring. We are getting luggage that can be worn as a backpack, pulled on wheels, or carried by hand.
Anyone have experience with these? We figured the versatility would be convenient for trains, boats, and airports.
I also plan to get a travel diary, converter/adapter, a new guide book (I can't find the ones from our last trip),...hmmm...what else?

Binoculars for our Botswana safari in May! (I'm getting my sister a 258mg flashcard memory for her digital.)
I saw an $88 combination passport cover, wallet, credit card holder in one of the many catalogs I receive. Don't you think I owe it to myself to order it for myself? Haven't I been extremely good all year? Didn't I pay the library for the book I left on the plane in Athens?
I think I would like an IPod or some kind of tiny music player. Our last trip, I got so tired of the same Muzak that they played over and over.
With good earphones that don't give you an ear ache.
I would like a better cosmetics case, with compartments for everything and a good mirror- hotels don't have good enough mirrors! And we all know how vain Scarlett is~

I would love to win a free trip to Europe!!I saw a contest sponsored by the Olive,s Gardens," a trip for two to a culinay school in Tuscany and Rome..",others than that, I dont really need anything at this moment..
I have asked for an intriguing looking bag that can be worn across the chest or back - looks pretty big for everything. Check out the Breast Cancer site or the Hunger Site (and click on all the "give" buttons - it's free and only takes a few minutes to go thru them all). I couldn't bring myself to buy another thing! I love getting travel stuff.
Thanks, Statia!
Scarlett,
I bought my daughter a first generation 10G Ipod online at applestore.com for 169.00! It was described as a refurbished model, but still had the full warranty. So I said what the heck and decided to order it (the reg. price was 299.00). I learned about this site from a deals thread and as people begin to report receiving their IPODS initially they were getting shoddy looking ones...well, it worked, but some of them had faded lettering, a few scratches, etc. I was beginning to worry until suddenly people started to report receiving brand spanking new models....and I'm happy to report that I was one of them! I believe they decided to try to deplete their inventory of the first generation since the second gen. was about to be released.
Soooo....if you really want to buy one of these at a really good price try applestore and click on special deals at the bottom left side of the homepage. The trick is that you have to keep checking back to see when these things come back into stock. They can appear on the site for a day and will be gone the next. So bookmark it. Good luck!

Its just something little, but I'm giving all the women in my family a baggalini for Christmas (in their stocking). I found them at a home store after reading about them on this site, so I stocked up.
For those of you that may be wondering, they are sturdy ripstop nylon bags that fold up to about 5 inches by 5 inches square. I am taking mine to London to help me transport back all my finds!
Scarlett- if you find a good cosmetics case, would you please let me know where you got it? I have tried all sorts of cases and have not found the right thing yet.

I want some of those new TSA approved locks..the plastic cables I've used on our last 2 flights have been removed by someone other than TSA and the bags rifled ..nothing mising though , . I'm not that dumb ...yet!
I gave myself a present for my holiday trip--a travel blanket with a space saver bag. An article I read recently about how airlines do NOT wash or even air out blankets after a flight made me want to vomit.
I asked Santa for a new Itty Bitty Book Light that I saw at Costco. It really is small and burns for 100,000 hours without a battery change. I usually wake up early when we travel and enjoy reading for a while while DH snoozes. I happen to know that Santa has one loaded in his sleigh for me.

Betsy, do you know how long the bulb is supposed to last? Because my experience has been that the bulbs go long before the batteries in the standard booklights, and I always carry an extra with me.
We recently bought a really great set of Swiss Army Luggage from Costco..It was a 6 piece set for a really good price..So for 1 of my husbands Xmas presents I bought him the matching back pack on wheels!! Hope he likes it..And then I bought this little miniature game (i forget what it is called)but it is a travel trivia game..Thought this would come in useful on a long flight!!
Mama Love,
Just purchased an LLBean backpack that fits your description to a t. It weights under 5 lbs, has wonderful handle and wheels, and fits the back comfortably. The shoulder straps are totally out of sight when not in use. (No, I don't have stock in beans.) There are two sizes to best fit the torso. Used it for 2 weeks in Germany this month and it was a pleasure. Check their website. LLBean.com .
