Would it be nicer to go to Kinsale?

Personally anywhere would be better than Kinsale for 2 days

Avoca is either a chain of Coffee shops or a small village in Wicklow that people relate to because of an old TV series.

Tony thinks Kinsale is over-hyped. Avoca is a nice little village worth a couple of hours to visit the woollen mill and shop. You can have a bite to eat there, or in Fitzgeralds. (But the interior of the pub is NOT the same as the pub from Ballykissangel.)

Avoca is a pleasant village located in one of Ireland's most scenic areas. The question should not be "what is an Avoca" but rather "what is Avoca in". It's in the Vale of Avoca, and if you like mountains, rivers, trees, and rocks, you could love it there.

I'm looking for small towns with a few pubs, not touristy and with places to hike.

I'm considering driving to Kenmare, staying there the whole vacation and then driving back to the airport.

How about Glendalough indeed? Beautiful place with the addition of good monastic buildings, mostly in ruins. More visitors than most people like to share space with. It doesn't have a proper village (one pub) so people often lodge in Laragh, about 3 miles away (2 or 3 pubs). On the other hand, it is easily visited from Avoca, and the route from one to the other is scenic, very scenic.

County Wicklow has a great deal that appeals to the visitor, yet relatively few who visit this site are aware of it. And it's close to Dublin and the airport.

Really, not a lot to see in Avoca, but the scenery is very nice. It might be a good base to visit Glendalough, Enniskerry, and do a bit of hiking along the Wicklow Way. Personally, I would prefer Kinsale, but then I love Kinsale.
