what is a treble room?

i notice often in hotel sites for ireland, you can get a single, double or treble? this may sound stupid, but does this just mean 3 beds? or does it mean 2 beds and a cot??

I would ask any hotel you are interested just what it means to them. It could mean lots of things--and you don't want an unpleasant surprise.

I would ask. You don't want to get into treble by not asking.

It's probably the opposite of a bass room. Though it's also possible it's a room that sleeps three ... a triple.

twenj

treble can mean threefold from the same lat. word triplus, that we get the word triple from.
