It depends on how much of a Ballykissangel fan you are!
Avoca is pretty, but would not hold your attention for long unless you are chasing down locations.
It is in a very scenic area, so you can include it in a tour of the Wicklow Mountains.

GadAbout,
I'm a huge fan of BallyK. We spent about 4 hours in Avoca. It is a lovely spot. We walked around, had lunch and I enjoyed sitting on a bench in front of the pub with an older gent and his dog. I thought the whole area was very pretty.
Enjoy your trip, Joan

Depends on the rest of your schedule. If you are flying in & out of Shannon and will mostly be in the west doing BallyK will mean a couple of extra days crossing the country. Co. Wicklow is beautiful and Avoca is a cute little town (very little).

If you have seen the movie 'Circle of Friends' with Minnie Driver, you may also want to stop by Inistioghe - that's where it was mostly filmed. It's not far from Kilkenny, which you'll pass on your way to/from Avoca.
Kilkenny is a good base city for a couple days, lots of things to visit within a short drive.
