Hey TRACY, I have an iMac too, but for the love of almighty I can't figure how to make a French accent grave...I've got all the other language options but have been unable to produce that one!

Any advice?

As for toasters, they aren't high priority. I have the cheapest one that'll still fit bagels, whatever that . Coffee-makers on the other hand...I love my Capresso.

Australia.
Bitzer 1.8 (bitzer this, bitzer that, assembled by techo son after extensive and loud negotiations with assorted Chinese bitzenpieces vendors). Works most of the time. XP, DSL, other alphabet soup.
Basic Sunbeam 2-slice toaster, s/steel, no bagel functionality, no bagels.
Braun wand thing with food processor attachment, good for Tuscan bean and pasta soup. Second-favourite tool after Lizzie Borden brand Chinese chopper bought in Hangzhou at outrageous price of AU$5 (just trying to inject a little travel relevance to this thread, which otherwise might be pulled - no, strike that, it will only be pulled if the discussion becomes interesting).

daisy, I'm sorry, but I've never found an emoticon showing a tongue firmly jammed in the cheek. The only alternative seems to be the annoying "LOL", only marginally less irritating than "DH". By "interesting" I meant one of those refreshing political set-tos that seem to worry the editor so much.

Well, Daisy I hate to tell you but sometimes you ARE boring so what can we say? Stick your finger in the toaster..might lighten up your life a bit.

Oh, no! One should never stick one's body parts into a toaster. Think of the children.

I have a nice fast Dell with cable modem--Rufus loves his PC. But I loved my first one just as much, though it would drive me crazy today.

It was a lovely little Apple IIc--it had one floppy drive, 128k memory, and a 1200 baud modem. The Green Screen was so science fictiony. Played lots of Car Wars (Autoduel) and Space Invaders on that baby.

It's still in the basement--just can't let go after all these years.

(Eyes welling up.)

Don't own a toaster--use the 20 year old toaster oven for just about everything.

Oh--and using Prodigy back in the mid-80s is when I first started doing travel research online.

THOUGH THERE WASN'T A WEBSITE NEARLY AS WONDERFUL AS FODOR'S IS TODAY! So this thread really is so TRAVEL RELATED.

klondike, here's how to do it on the iMac:

Push the option and ` keys at the same time, release them, then type an e

So, opt `, e = è

Opt e, e = é
Opt i, o = ô
Opt c = ç
Opt shift 2 (all three keys together) = €

There are three Macs in our house; no windows.

Oh THANK YOU, THANK YOU. This really made my Sunday morning unique. Especially with heavy wet snow predicted. Now how about a comparison of SNOW REMOVAL? Shovel vs. plow, etc. Halfpint
