Just finished sorting the mail from being gone for a week. Two piles each over a foot high...one is magazines (really need to not renew some!) the other is catalogs. Lots of reading for the weekend, lol!

Made the mistake of watching a London video this morning while on the treadmill, so am itching to get back there or to Edinburgh.

Carlos--I have not been to Spain, but I love Portugal! Have fun planning!

Jocelyn--Don't cancel your trip! I had bronchitis about two weeks ago, right before the kids and I took off for a roadtrip to CA to my parents. A trip to my doctor, and I felt human by the time we arrived, lol!

Sharon--That sounds like it could be quite the story!

Scarlett--Italy is REALLY bad for the pocketbook as far as shopping goes

Ira--Our grass is a jungle too. Too much rain to go mow though. Not complaining--we need the rain desperately!

Its Friday afternoon...what better reason to just relax

I'm considering how to re-schedule my Europe trip, which has to be postponed because of surgery - fooey!

Also considering doing something useful in the garden (of weeds) on a magic Sydney autumn Saturday morning.

But basically, I'm playing around here!

Writing a sermon for a Youth Group Sleepover service; trying to figure out a way to explain to (callow) youth why we respect and admire the Pope despite the fact that, as a liberal protestant denomination, we don't necessarily agree with his viewpoint...kids are so black and white...

Mostly wishing I was with a group of Italian teens in Rome as I was this time last year. Sigh...

Ah Ira, you know you'll have a great time like you always do in the Dordogne in September. It's Saturday morning here, just took one of the kids to sport, I am having my breakkie whilst on Fodors (counting off the day until Spain and France in June) and listening to Rod Stewart's Great American Songbook. The garden is beckoning.
There's not a cloud in the sky and very warm for autumn. Tomorrow we are going to Manly beach for snorkelling.
Life's good!

We are nursing our English cocker Raisin back to health. She decided to celebrate her 6th birthday by developing a whopping case of pyometra, which is often fatal. She needed emergency surgery and is now back at home (and making a good recovery, thankfully). Next month we are taking her with us to Germany and Switzerland for two weeks, plus a week or two back in Brussels, then in late summer, we're all going to the Austrian Alps and the Italian lakes.

Counting the days (only 9 left) until I leave for the Netherlands, France, and Italy. It has been almost two years since our last trip to Europe, so I am hardly able to sleep because of my joy and excitement. PJK

I just finished preparing invoices for my March projects, and I'm now watching the rain outside and trying to decide which color of carpet I like from the samples I brought home. Exciting Friday evening here!

I've been reading up for our trip to Naples and the Amalfi Coast, which is just two months away.

vedette - I made a daytrip down to Atlanta yesterday for one of my clients and the airport was a zoo. I had originally looked at going today but was unable to find a non-stop back to Chicago on any airline, so I know it is busy there. Good luck!

Watching CNN to follow news of the Pope, enjoying the rain in Atlanta, anticipating all the spring chores, hoping to get the garden planted soon. Everything has to be in good shape before May 21--then off to England & Scotland for 3 weeks!

ira said "I am wasting time on Fodors, when I could be making the world a better place.."
Ira, I think you do make the world a better place. You are always helpful and you have a sense of humor, you make me smile quite often! Most of the people here make the world a better place and that makes me happy

BTilke, is it because your little dog was not spayed? I hope she feels very much better very soon, that is so scary!

Just got back from my watercolor class. We had a "show and critique" and everyone is so much more talented... I'm getting ready for my 4 mile walk. I'll stop by my neighborhood church and light a candle for the Pope. We're off to Maui end of April, a cruise to Alaska in June, Belize and Tikal in August (no hurricanes, please) and So. Caribbean cruise in December. No Europe this year much to my regret...

Jocelyn, get well soon. Take care of yourself. Today is a beautiful day in San Diego, warm and sunny and we have millions of painted lady butterflies. Fiesta Island is in bloom...

Got home from work late. Software installation so I'll be working all weekend and long days next week. Ugh. At least the weather is lousy and I get paid for overtime.

I'm going to San Francisco the end of the month. A friend's very belated 40th b-day. I haven't been to the Bay Area since fall of 2000 so I'm really looking forward to it.

SharonG did you get "le clip" in it's museum case with proper accent lighting?

Still trying to decide on hotels for my trip to Germany in May. But I'm getting ready to practice my violin so my teacher doesn't yell at me next week!

It's getting cloudy here in Philadelphia, and it looks like the weekend will be a washout! Oh well, one of these weekends will be nice enough to start working in the garden....

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Trying to ease my jet lag with a big glass of vino rosso. I know, it won't help, but it's still good Starting Monday I'll be slammed with work again, so I'm trying to relax while I can...

Rosemary, hope your London trip is fabulous and that the weather stays nice! I just got back a few days ago from a short trip with my daughter, and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Having my morning coffee here at home in Indonesia. Thinking about what to pack for my short trip to Singapore (leaving tomorrow). Really looking foward to a trip to NZ in two weeks.

I'm at the computer, once again, on Fodors, once again.... with only the desk light and the monitor light against the dark of the evening.

Thinking about the poor suffering Pope, who's had to put up with a painful and afflicted body for a long time. I love that the Vatican keeps using the word "serene" -- it's a great word in the current, miserable world; and even if it's a disguise for something happening that the Vatican doesn't want to speak about yet, it's nice to think he might, indeed, be "serene."

I'm also thinking about our trip in 6 weeks to Rome and wondering how much milling of pilgrims will still be taking place -- to see a new Pope, to witness the Elevation, or whatever.

I'm also hearing the spring peepers outside and smelling the unmistakably moist, earthy breath of spring.

It's not bad, and maybe we can inhale a nanosecond of serenity therefrom.

I'm still at work and it's 10.15pm, but I'm working on a difficult deal and staying the extra time tonight means I might not have to come in tomorrow. I'm taking little breaks by reading the board from time to time. Had a great sushi dinner earlier in the evening and still have an hours drive home ahead of me, hopefully not too long from now.

However, off to the Middle East in less than a month (woo hoo!), so something to look forward to.

Just got back from a coffee shop where I had spent about two hours reading one of the books for my thesis...

My mind is occupied on: my two case studies and final exam in my other grad class -all that need to be completed within the next 3 wks (how am I going to get all of them done?), my tax refund that I still haven't done, planing my first solo trip to Europe in July (I hope I won't end up in Vienna without hotel reservations), and crossing my fingers tight that I would be able to have some money leftover to go to Indonesia for 3 wks in Dec (because I really want to go).
