What are you paying for 2010 or 2011 Europe travel flights?
Please do not post details on flight dates if uncomfortable (safety reasons), but a general idea when, from where and how much are you paying. I am struggling with the idea of recalibrating how much to pay for European travel. After 25 years of traveling to Europe at least twice a year, I am finding paying $700+ for shoulder season from the Northeast a crime!
OK, let me have it....how much you paid? what was your threshold? (BTW, let's keep it nicey nice...

This year was tough. In October 2009 I found $502 r/t Columbus to Paris and $420 r/t Columbus to London. This year there have been no cheap flights that I could find so I finally caved and used my FF miles to book. One thing I found interesting this year: I booked all tickets one-way and the prices were lower than the r/t fares, so try that. (I booked open jaw cmh - cdg/Amsterdam - cmh)

It was the cheapest ticket on American. Other airlines were less, but I had a voucher on American, so paid more than I could have on anothter airline. I followed fares between Feb and May. The lowest I saw was in the high 700s.

MelJ- my experience was very similar to yours. On 2009 I found the lowest prices on flights to Italy I've ever seen! I flew on early May to Milan from the Northeast (not JFK nor EWR!) for $430!! This year I had to pay $700+ for late April to Barcelona from JFK (urghhh!!).
Jackie-- you are right; the trend this year was a flat line upwards of the $700 point!

I'm going to make some of you feel like you won the lottery with the great deals you got - I am flying open jaw, non-stop Atl - FCO and return ATH - ATL thru JFK. After watching, watching and seeing little change I booked for around $1100 for in Oct. (we had to fly on certain dates, so I pulled the trigger). Well of course then the price goes down by over $300 - not a happy camper! But wait - shortly thereafter they change our flights, very slightly but it shortens our connection at JFK. I call and talk to an agent about the connection time and she says its pretty tight, probably not enough, so we decide to book us onto a later flight. And guess what - that gets us vouchers for the price difference! That made my day - so our fares eneded up being around $800, sort of. But its always nice to have a voucher that you HAVE ro use!

Wow Joan - was able to replicate your fare... we are looking to go to CDG and AMS in early October but tickets are $900+... trying to be creative but not having much luck in bringing the price down.
