We're off!
I want to thank everyone who has helped me plan this trip. I began with a lame message on December 26 last year, when I thought we might plan a trip with our friends. (They couldn't do it.) I had never thought really about going to Italy but that thread gave me the idea. So we are off tomorrow for a week in Paris and a week in Rome with the teenagers.
Last night my husband and I were talking about how the kids will like this trip. We have one teen (18 yr old) who is a great traveler. Loves to eat, loves speaking French, likes sight seeing...And then we have one teenager (15) who doesn't like to eat, is SO tall that he doesn't fit anywhere (6'5"
, hates foreign languages (will choose a college based on whether or not it has a foreign language requirement), and gets tired strolling around. SO this will be interesting!
I've had so many helpful and encouraging responses to my many annoying questions. Thanks everybody. I'll write a report when I get back.
By the way - I can't believe how much stuff fit in my little 22" suitcase!

Before it's too late, identify which (of several) day(s) your fifteen year old gets to be totally in charge of the plan(s) for the day. An engaged teen traveler is far more likely to be a happy teen traveler. Don't rule out Parc Asterix, or a beach day, ballooning, or something that he considers "an escape from Europe" for some part of one day.
Best wishes,
Rex
