Sandi: If this was really your first time to Paris you are to be commended on a fabulously planned and executed trip. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, and I've been to Paris a gazillion times, and that says something! Congratulations on a great trip and a lovely and useful report. Did you keep a journal or was it such a short-term trip that you remembered all the details? (I'm always curious, because I keep detailed journals but always forget to write down, for example, what I paid for things).

Wonderful report. Thank you so much for sharing. I will have my 10th anniversary this year and cannot imagine a better place than Paris celebrate.

Sandi-Super Report. Questions for you...Did you decide, prior to your arrival, where you were going to go once you got there? Or were you playing everything my ear? Also, were you equipped with maps, etc to find everything? My husband and I are going the end of this month and will have 6 days. I would love to be able to walk everywhere like you guys did as well. What kind of shoes did you wear and do you think that the weather will allow us to do the same?

Thanks for your replies. Fortunately for me, my husband is a walking compass and a map nut! He navigated us around Italy 2 years ago both walking and driving and the same with NY (I have a similar trip report from NY in Sept.) We were equipped with the Eyewitness Paris book and a great map from National Geographic called Destination Map /Paris. It's laminated and folds up like the the Streetwise (?) series. We do a lot of research before a trip. My husband reads far more than I do and he read &quot;Paris to the Moon&quot; and &quot;Age of Reason&quot; by Satre, I was and still am reading &quot;A moveable Feast&quot;. This gives us ideas of things to see and do. We also studied the Lonely Plante Food:France and Patricia Wells book to get ideas of places to eat etc. The main thing is to study the guid books and find out where the main attractions that you want to try to see. From there you check out the map and segment areas to certain days so that you can really concentrate on particular neighborhoods. I also am an addicted Fodorite going on 3 years now.<BR>As far as note taking I have a notebook that I keep with me and use it in 2 different ways. One is details about the day which I write while wer're sitting at a cafe having coffee etc. That way I can say &quot;what was that great street we were on that we saw the ...&quot; and my husband can recall it and I'll write it down. I also try to keep a running total of things we buy for the obvious budget reason and to be able to relay that in my trip report.

Sandi, I agree with StCirq! you did such a good job with your first trip to Paris. I have gone every year for the last 3 years and never have packed that much in! bravo!<BR><BR>and tell your husband that the whole surprise ring bit just about brought tears to my eyes! How romantic!!

Great photos Sandi. Man, do I want to be in Paris right now. Also, loved your New York photos. Since I live here, I forget how wonderful and beautiful the city can be. Your pics of Central Park, especially the sax player are amazing.
