Wengen to Gstaad

We'll be heading to Wengen in a couple of weeks.... and of course, will get the BO Region travel pass. We are thinking of travelling over to Gstaad via train as a day trip.

I am hoping that the well travelled folks here can give us an idea of how long a trip this is and whether it's worth it.

Danke

Hi Wengenlover,

After about three or four trips to Wengen and the Oberland, I finally made a long-ish trip to Gstaad. Now, I prefer that area to the Oberland -- its hills are softer, rounder, and more lush. I don't think it would take much imagination to see why it's been a magnet for the rich & whatnot since the 1950s.

But the trip will be long, about 2h48 in each direction (I usually limit my day-trips to two hours in each direction or else enjoyment plummets). You can get the exact schedule & changes at the Swiss rail site,

www.rail.ch

You could break up the journey by spending some time in Spiez, walking to the lake, soaking up the views. You could even take a ferry from Interlaken to Spiez if you have loads of time.

Here are links to my "reviews" (w/photos) of the area:

Anyway, have fun!
