Indeed, Wales has some glorious beaches. I spent many happy years as a child on Harlech beach (Longest beach in the UK I think?) - big breakers, sand dunes, and for the cynical, it's the only place I've ever got sunstroke!

I agree with Kate, some lovely beaches, especially west Wales and also on Anglesey, which is one of my favourite places. My personal favourite are the little beaches around Ynys Llanddwyn, a small island (only cut off at high tide) near Newborough on Anglesey - a really magical place.

I live on the north Pembrokeshire coast in Wales, and can vouch for the beaches 100%! Lonely, clean, diverse and magical are just a few of the words that spring to mind, with none of the commercialism and 'tackiness' that blights many of Britain's 'seaside' destinations. Oh and did I mention that I think we have the best sunsets in the world too?

I agree I saw some pretty beaches in Wales, but I guess being in the top 20 doesn't mean you necessarily go into the water. I stuck my toe in, WOW was it cold. But then I'm from Florida.

I have recently spent 3 weeks in Pembrokeshire and can report some of the beeches there are superb. Pembrokeshire being the only coastal national park in the uk makes it an unspoilt haven of beautiful beeches and untouched walks. Tenby and saundersfoot to only name 2 are quite wonderful and along with the sceneary there is so much to do from a leisure point of view.

There is plenty to do for children from Folly farm, Oakwood and the new Bluestone complex that recently opened. We stayed in a town called Narberth at www.plashyfrydhotel.com and was an excellent base to launch our daily trips. A highly recommended and enjoyable stay that we will surely return to Pembrokeshire.
