Week in Dordogne - Suggestions

Hi!
We are planning on spending 5-6 days in Dordogne. We'd really appreciate your help in planning our trip!
1. Is this too much time in Dordogne?
2. Any itinary suggestions?
3. What are the most important/must do things while we enjoy this region?
4. Is it feasible to stay in one place and do day trips throughout the region or do we need to change hotels?
5. Any hotel or restaraunt locations?
Thanks to everyone in advance!

No, a week is a lifetime too short.

Have you searched this forum? There are a bazillion threads here on the Dordogne to get you started.

You could click on my name and get a few hundred.

Hi StCirq! Thanks for the tip . . . we checked out your forum and have definitely decided this is the place to vacation! Is it possible to stay in one location or is the area to large? Thanks!

Only 1 base is fine for 5-6 days. Stay within 25 K of Sarlat and you'll find plenty of stuff to keep you busy.

Do you have my 20+ page itinerary for the Dordogne?? If not, e-mail me at [email protected] & I'll send you one. Do so soon - we leave for the Dordogne on Thursday AM.

Hi it,

1. NO
2. Lascaux II is a "must".
3. Relax and enjoy yourselves.
4. One base is sufficient
5. What's your budget?

Here's what we did with one week in the Dordogne:

(continues on for a couple more pages after the first one)

We loved it there. As Stu Dudley says, stay within 25k of Sarlat, and you can't go wrong. There's tons of stuff to do.

MUCH better Thursday market in Lalinde - and the Domme market is only in high season.

And no need to go all the way to Brantôme on Friday - Montignac and Le Buisson both have Friday markets.

Tuesday market in Le Bugue is one of the most popular.
