We've been thinking about purchasing our wedding rings in Italy. Can anyone recommend a shop with good quality and craftsmanship for good prices? Thx!

I have no help for the rings, but I do not think you are doing things backwards at all.<BR>If you can travel together, then you know you can live together.

Bliss--take a side trip to FLorence to the Ponte Vecchio Bridge- go to a store called S.Vaggi-- ( they have 2 stores on the bridge-the owner is in the store on the corner-it is located on the side of the bridge closer to the Duomo)--Look at a map of FLorence and you will understand me--Ask for Roberto....he is the owner- His prices for 18 kt gold are fantastic and the selection of items is unusual , beautiful, and reasonably priced --you can email me direct if you need anything=I have his website in my favorites---<BR><BR>You can also email him ahead of time and tell him what you are looking for-or even call him on the phone- and he can fax you some items--<BR><BR>We have been to FLorence 3 times and gotten jewelry all 3 times- his prices were the best- and his selection is enormous...When we got home, everything appraised 3 x what we paid for it..<BR><BR>Happy Honeymoon!

I second Andy's suggestion -- S. Vaggi in Florence. They have 2 stores close together on the Old Bridge. I bought wedding rings there in May 2002, and were impressed by the excellent service -- our rings were sized perfectly and ready for pick-up the same afternoon. Wedding rings there are priced by weight -- I recall that each ring was priced under 100 euro, including VAT. They were also very friendly and helpful in instructing us as to the VAT refund. Our refunds came to us promptly after our trip. Highly recommended.

Andy, could you post the website of the store. We're getting engaged on our Italy trip and was wondering about purchasing the diamond over there or buying it here in the US.

BARRY- BUY your DIAMOND in the states from a reputable jeweler that either you or your family knows--I would NEVER purchase a diamond abroad unless I knew him VERY well- Diamonds are such high priced items and if you don't know what you are doing, you can really get taken---<BR><BR>I would get the diamond and the diamond setting done in the US to prevent someone from swapping out your diamond overseas...<BR><BR>But for the wedding bands-you can't go wrong in FLorence==
