Be advised: We found the B&B's of Ireland to be somewhat inconvenient to the town/city itself. You may want to consider staying in one of the town's hotels, if you plan on visiting the pubs to enjoy a late evening of music and Guinness. A B&B situated along a narrow, winding road can be difficult to find in the dark. And, the fine for driving and drinking is steep.

don't quite 'jeez' bit. As you said - I was just offering my 'expertise'. Was just trying to help. No good deed goes unpunished I guess.

Years ago we wer staying in a B&B that was rather out of the nearest town/village, where the owners offerwed to drop us to and collect us from the pub where we were going to eat.....but obviously you can't rely on that.
As for the drink drive fine being steep, I'd hope that's not the main reason one doesn't....

Thanks again everyone. I usually use a combination of a country based website compared with ratings from Tripadvisor and pricing from direct websites or phone calls. Having a place to start looking is the key. Thanks for the website references. I will also google our destinations...that's a new one for me.

Thanks, I'll let you know when I have a rough itinerary. We are waiting to hear about a tee time on the Old Course at St. Andrews and that will determine when and where the rest is. So far I think we will be in Dublin, and near Ballybunion and Old Head.
