Weather in Paris?

I, first off, want to thank everyone for their advice...I have learned so much from you guys.

I am trying to buy shoes for my trip to Paris...I get advice that it will be slushy, and other advice that it will be rainy. I am from California and have only been in the snow a few times...so I am cluesless as to footwear.

Someone gave me a link to Landsend......do they make good shoes? I am not trying to plug them, but I also don't want to spend 100 bucks on shoes I won't wear much here. And I have large feet and detest shoe shopping, so I don't want to buy any shoes in Paris. I know, I know, many women would probably think I am crazy, but I am in Paris for the sights and the people...not the haute couture...although I do think some of it is very pretty.

I don't know who said slushy but that is really not all that likely! I would assume that you are going to Paris Dec,Jan time and yes you will get some rain , but snow is rare maybe flurries if it gets really cold. My wife and I have been going to Paris in January the past three years mainly because we happen to enjoy the weather. We are from Arizona so the climate is wonderful. Also there are not many tourists. I think you will be fine with just a comfortable rubber soled shoes. Enjoy

I visited late October last year and it was rainy. I wore a flat mary-jane type shoe with warm socks and was fine, although boots would have been nice for when it really poured. I noticed many women wearing very stylish leather sneakers that look more like a bowling or cycling shoe. Take a look at Pumas and other similar brands, which you could certainly wear here (I'm in Cali too).

Wear the most comfortable shoes you can, as visiting Paris properly requires a great deal of walking. You don't have to worry about wetness, as rain in Paris, when it occurs, tends to be a light drizzling or misty rain that doesn't really get shoes very wet. Slush is pretty much unknown, especially these days with global warming—snow is very rare indeed, and is typically limited to a few days per year in January or February, if it ever falls at all.

Here's another HUGE recommendation for just finding the most attractive and comfortable shoes.

Go to zappos.com and buy a practical pair of non-sneakers. Try those sort of soccer-looking shoes. They're cute and comfortable for walking. Zappos has free shipping AND free return shipping - so buy several pairs to try on. In my opinion - Landsend does not make very comfortable shoes.
