Weather in Italy In October

I will be traveling to Milan, Venice, Florence and Cinque Terre the third week in October. What will the weather be like and what type of clothing would you take? <BR>Thanks!

Susan, We were in the same cities last Oct. and it was cool and rainy. Oct is their biggest rain month, but when we left it was sunny, but a light raincoat is important, along with sweaters and long sleeved shirts, no shorts were needed. Also an umbrella just in case.

I was there a few years ago at that time and a cold front blew in. We were in Tuscany and it was freezing! It was very cold and very windy. Locals said it was abnormal. We had to buy warm clothes and both of us got colds. I'd recommend taking silk long johns just in case, since they don't take up much room. You can always buy sweaters and stuff there if you need to (although you probably won't!).

Susan, I am traveling in late October as well, to the very same destinations in fact. I have been checking weather.com for info since it seems the weather is typically unpredictable. It looks like it has been very humid there recently. Ii gives 3-5 day forecasts. Pack in layers!

I was there last Oct. and wore everything from a single white, short-sleeved T-shirt to a t-shirt, sweater, heavy leather jacket and gloves. Definitely layer your clothes and take a mid-weight rain jacket with a hood. Don't let the rain stop you from exploring!
