I just returned from those exact places & it was HOT. The weather in September is supposed to be as hot as the summer months. Pack light, breathable clothes. Mykonos is pretty dressy at night. Santorini and Athens are not quite as dressy.

Greece is a solar country, thus, it's sunny most of the yaer.

It won't be so hot as July and August, and as sometimes the Aegean can get pretty windy, bring summer outfit, but at least a light sweater, or jacket, or a shawl.

The Greek Islands are all pretty casual, even at night, so it's up to you how much you want to dress up. I'd say that anything goes.

Surlok

I am also going to Greece, but not until the end of September. Does anyone know if the weather will still (typically) be warm?

Hi. I'll be going to Athens and Santorini middle of September as well. Which hotels are you staying? I can't make my decision yet.

I was in Nissaki (near Corfu) in mid to late September a few years ago. Perfect weather, water was refreshing, nights mild and great for sleeping.

Kim;
I will be staying at DANA VILLAS - (Cat. A - In Firostefani with Caldera view) on Santorini. It was highly recommended by my travel agent. In Athens we are staying at the new Sofitel Hotel (at the airport). We are only staying in the Athens area one night.
Enjoy your trip.

Lee: Beware! I was booked into Dana's Villas last September for 3 days. When we arrived I was told that 5 of the villas were not in working order because (and I am not making this up) The Americans plugged up the toilets.We were bumped down the laneway to a 3 star establishment.I truly beleive it was a classic case of over booking.

We were in Greece, Athens, Mykonos, Santorini + Saronic Gulf islands the entire month of October last year. It was hot enough to swim most days, but we did see a few thunderstorms.. even so, even later in the year it was never cold and in the Saronic Gulf, we swam in the sea quite a bit, it was warm water and lovely.

Martha;
Thank you for your warning. I am booking through an agent in Athens, so I am hoping we wont have that problem. I understand that you may run into the problem of overbooking if you book via the internet.

Thyra/Surlok;
Thank you for the weather advice. Definitely going to bring a sweater and light jacket. Even pants. Hoping we experience an "Indian Summer" though.
I will also be in Greece in September. Does anyone have a suggestion for traveling from Santorini to Mykonos? We are flying from Athens but would like to travel by boat between the islands. Should I book in advance? If so, do you have a ferry service recommendation? Information on this is hard to find.
Thanks

I was in Crete in October a few years ago and it was really really hot. However, someone who'd been there in Sept. and also in Oct. with me said it had not been as hot in Sept.

Go figure.
