I was in Italy a few years ago and it was cloudy and high in the mid 40's one week and then high 70s and sunny the next week.

first was Cortina 2nd was Palermo

LOLAMORA, Italy is a long narrow country. It has all sorts of weather conditions. If you check the websites that rex has given you on his post as it gets closer to your trip you will have a general idea what to expect. You will probably need an umbrella at some point. You can buy those very easily from vendors if it starts to rain if you don't want to pack one.

Italy's weather like a lot of the world has gotten more unpredictable these last years. Not knowing where you are going to visit in Italy and in that no one at this point knows what the weather in the various sections of Italy will be like I would just say plan to pack so that you can layer your clothes. Is this a verifiable statement? It was MORE predictable in the past? Anywhere in the world?

I think that weather forecasting, and even predicting a year away... is surely more accurate in 2006 than it was in 1996, 1956, 1906 or 906.
