Water Taxi from VCE
Does anyone have any information about Festa della Rificolona, Florence (children’s procession with lanterns, street performances, parade)?
I just tried to reserve a water taxi for September 7 and could not due to the above mentioned event.
Where exactly does this parade take place?
Will this also affect the Vaporetti and the Alilaguna? Does anyone know if water taxis would still be available at the airport? Should I expect them to be more crowded than normal?
Thanks for any help you can give me.

You are talking about Venice? The event you noted takes place in Florence, 260 km from Venice....
The big event taking place in Venice at that time is the Venice Film Festival. http://www.labiennale.org/en/cinema/news/28-07.html

Greg answered while I signed in: Nothing in Florence would affect your ability to reserve transportation in Venice.
Were you planning to take the train from Venice to Florence? Try Mestre instead.
Still a bit confused.

<Why would an event in Florence affect transportation in Venice. Confused here, too.>
So sorry!!! I misread the posting and did not realize the parade was in Florence. But, the message I received on this website
https://www.motoscafivenezia.it/eng/
gave me this message "sorry, due to public events you cannot choose this date"
It's probably the film Festival that will attract have lots of people.
I'm just trying to figure out what is the best way to get to my B&B Al Teatro. My husband and I will have one 24in. luggage each and one carry-on.

If you go to B&B Al Teatro web site, http://www.bedandbreakfastalteatro.com/en/location, they outline four different ways to get there, each with pros and cons. With watertaxi out, choose one of the three mentioned. Aliliguna is just one boat, BUT you need to get to the dock at VCE, which is NOT just outside the arrival - you walk 0.5 miles. ATVO/ACTV(5) bus leave right in front from the VCE arrival, but you need to change to vaporetto at Piazzale Roma, another walk. You needed to have gotten the ACTV vaporetto pass at VCE if you don't want to line up at the long line at Piazzale Roma to buy ticket/pass.

Greg, the lines aren't too bad at Piazzale Roma to buy tickets/passes. They are at the train station sometimes but I usually only have to wait a few minutes tops at the Piazzale Roma ticket office.
But I think with 24 inch suitcases Alilaguna is always the easier way to go. Having said that, the lines for the Alilaguna can be pretty long at certain times of the day.

greg and rialtogrl - Thanks! I guess then my last question would be "Is the walk from the ATVO/ACTV(5) to the vaporetto shorter than the .5 mile to Alilaguna dock? I'm not sure I want to start my stay in Venice limping on my arthritic knee. I did email the B & B about the water taxi because I wanted to know where it would leave us off - but I have not heard back from them yet.
As always, thanks for your input.

Hi Ladylyn, yes, the walk is a lot shorter from the bus to the vaporetto. And also, there are water taxi stands at Piazzale Roma, so you could take the bus and then if there is a water taxi available, take it to your hotel. Would be pricey though, like 70 euros.
Weather you take a water taxi or Alilaguna, you still have to walk to the dock at the airport for both. The buses stop right in front of the terminal.

rialtogrl - thank you! this is very helpful for me. We will do the bus and the vaporetto ( maybe a taxi from Piazzale)
gregg - Although you are right - there was lots of info on the B & B website, it did not mention the logistics of getting to the transportation.
