Watching the Patriots from Dublin?

I know this is ridiculous, but what are the chances that I might be able to watch the Patriots/Colts game from Dublin on Sunday night?

If you find a place, then you could watch the Steelers on Sat. night!

It has been a couple of years since I was in Dublin, but there use to be a pizza restaurant in the area around Grafton St and St Stephans Green. I think it may have been called Chicago Pizza. It had many televisions, all showing American sporting events. You might give it a try.

Wherever you end up, just make sure they have champagne to celebrate the Colts victory.

Chicago Pizza place closed down quite a few years ago.

There used to be a Sports Cafe/Bar in the UGC Multiplex at Parnell Square, but I'm not sure if it still exists. They would probably be your best bet if they are still around. Siobhan might know.

Hi I only just saw this one! I think the one mentioned by Calin may now be the Hard Rock Cafe. Its on Fleet street in temple bar across from the Thunder Road Cafe. The the one on Parnell street CelticDreams mentioned (Hi!) is below the Movie cinema and its an Australian place called the Outback or something. They definately have US football.

BuzzyJ, I don't know the answer, but I wanted you to know that I don't think your question is ridiculous! I went to London 2 years ago in January and found a place to watch American football playoffs in London - and the place was packed until about 4am (due to time difference, games were on really late).

Go JETS!

Anywhere with Sky Sports ( actually showing on Sky Sports Extra ). Most hotels and bars ( maybe even B&B's )will have this but may not be showing the game. You will need a late bar also.
Try any theme bars ( Aussie - Down under across from the Gaeity Theatre, Sports Bars in Temple Bar, or Cocoon off Duke Street( used to be a big expat hangout but might consider itself too cool for NFL ))
I would imagine any small bar with a TV will put it on for you, Sunday nights in January tend to be a bit slow in Ireland. Ask in bars near where you are staying when you arrive. There will be only Spanish Soccer to compete at that time or European Rugby Cup highlights.

This reminds me of my unfortunate son who was in Russia on business during the World Series. Being a Red Sox fan it was painful to be so far from home with no TV broadcast. We received a lot of phone calls from Russia that week. He did see one game, but it was the days' before. It was not an exciting trip to Russia as another trip for him was.

Thanks everyone; the game was on TV just about everywhere, even our hotel bar carried it. We watched with about 30 other Americans, and it was fun, despite the late hour. And the outcome was perfect (sorry Beatle)...

Are you back in USA for this Sunday's match? I'm not so confident as I was last week, for obvious reasons!

Glad you got to see your game!

Steelers/Patriots game should be on about 12:30am in Ireland -- any pubs open?? Maybe at a hotel/bar?

I'll be watching in NJ. Just curious for those fans in Ireland.

Buzzy,
I'll be in Dublin in Sept. and simply cannot miss a Steeler game! Since your Patriots game was a playoff game last year, do you think they'd show regular season games too? What bars would you recommened? Thank you!

Congrats World Champion STEELERS!!!

Well its still tough. The sports bar on Parnell street is now a stringfellows strip bar If its at night it will be tough to find a place unless you are in a hoitel with Sky digital. Buskers sometimes has the superbowl or the wool Shed on Parnell street Beside the cinema shows US and Aussie games. Major Toms on King Street off Grafton may sometimes show U.S. Games. If its late they will not show it as a lot of these places are Disco bars and will not turn ofgf the music to put a tgame on in the evenings as they will lose money...sorry!
