I would not want to use regular laundry detergent in a hotel sink. Too hard to really get the detergent back out. If I were to bring along anything to assist in this task, it would be a universal stopper to keep the water in the sink (often hotel sinks do not have a method to plug them).

A quick Google of "woolite travel packets" takes you to several websites where they are available. Pack of 10 for $4.25.

My personal favorite is TravelWash; I orginally discovered it in England, but now I order it from Magellans.

namaka, in the apt we stayed in , the washer and dryer are all one machine..the soaps that were provided and which I bought at the local FranPrix to bring home, were in cubes..you know, you just drop a soap pill into the little slot.
Buying soap when you get there ( it is never expensive) or using the shampoo in the hotel room is so much easier than having to think of or deal with packing laundry soap before you leave.

Scarlett, thanks. You've totally answered my questions. I will wait until I get to each apt and if need be, then get the detergent locally.

Glad to be of help
My daughter stayed in an apt in Ghent and found a great fabric softener, lol , so she brought that back for me on one trip. Just something new to add to the usual shopping when abroad lol...
I happen to love the scent of Parisian laundry soaps

My favorite "dryer sheet" was purchased in Provence. A large sachet filled with lavendar to be tossed in when drying sheets...sweet dreams and all!

Scarlett, do you know the very best household cleaning tip EVER that has to do with dryer sheets?

Okay, here's the best scoop ever...

When your casserole dish or roasting pan is so gunked up you think you will NEVER get it clean again, fill it up with water and drop in a dryer sheet.

Let it soak (I let it soak overnight) and....

VOILA! It wipes clean with a dishcloth.

Don't know how/why, but it is absolutely magic!

That is SO great! Thank you. I am sure it will be much better than throwing away the casserole dish ~lol~
