Warm December Desitinations from London

Hello, we are new Americans to London and would like some ideas of warm destinations during the month of December. We do not desire to travel back to North America (Carribean or Mexico). We would like to go somewhere that we would not normally travel to from the USA. Would love some ideas!! Thank you

Welcome to London!

Most of my friends that want warmth head for:

Canary Islands
Maldives
Egypt
Jordan
Gambia
Thailand and SE Asia
Safaris in Africa

jamikins is spot on, though I see that the foreign office has upped the security on Egypt this morning.

Morocco and Tunisia (less so) needs to be added though I would avoid Agadir and Essaouira (which tend to get a bit rainy in December). Jordan can get a chill.

The Gambia.

completely different to anywhere you've ever been before, guaranteed good weather, decent food, reasonably priced.

Friends rave about Zanzibar - supposed to be paradise.

I personally love Thailand as a winter getaway – great food and such friendly, polite people.

Of course there's always Dubai although personally I couldn't think of anything worse.

South Africa, particularly Cape Town.

It is a 11 hour flight, but easy as overnight, and no jet lag (only 2 hour difference)
