We will be staying around Villa Boughese area and is wondering if other parts of Rome is within walking distance.... for example.. how far is Villa Boughese and Spanish Steps?

Villa Borghese is a fairly large area to the north of the Spanish Steps; hence, it could be a short or long walk, depending which part you are staying in. For example, the Parco dei Principi hotel is at the north end and is about a mile from the Spanish Steps. You'll have to say which hotel you will be staying at to get better feedback.

I went to Rome and had no trouble walking around. From where you are intending to stay most of the important sights (The ancient city center with the Forum and Colosseum and Palatine hill museums, the Pantheon, and the Vatican) are 1 1/2 miles away as the crow flies.If something is really too far away to walk to then simply catch a cab.

Don't bother with taxis, except perhaps late at night returning from a restaurant. The bus system in Rome is excellent, although I wouldn't say the same for the subway. When you arrive, ask your concierge to tell you which are the most convenient buses into the center of the city. I'm sure you're not more than 20 minutes by bus from most sites.

My husband & I spent part of our honeymoon in Rome and even though we hadn't intended too, we walked almost everywhere. We only took the subway our first day to go to the coliseum and on our second day, we took the bus to the vatican. After that we walked most places. Needless to say I lost weight on the trip! I had been to Italy the previous year and had been warned about the bus to the vatican. No. 64, Gypsies know alot of tourist take this bus so beware. It's a wonderful city to walk in, get lost! AAHH! ROME!!! <BR> <BR>From villa Borghese go to piazza del popolo (I don't know why but I liked that square very much). From there via del Babuino begins, which will lead you directly to the spanish steps - very easy. Around villa borghese there is also the tram line. Take the tram to reach colosseum and the other ancient ruins... <BR>I am so jealus!! I visited Rome 7 years ago, and I still think about it, remembering in details the sights I saw, the routes I walked...aaaaahh!
