Did you take any of the optionals? Should we do some of the aor all of them?Did you have to pay in America dollars. If so how much cash should we take? Did the women dress up much at nite? Do you think we should pack shorts for use during the trip? Any suggestions , hints advice apppreciated.

As accompanied my parents,I only took few options. It seemed some of them not really worthwhile. Besides you won't have time for everything.
You could pay in U.S. dollars or Roubles.
Except one evening for the dress party,most people didn't dress up,just sort of casual smart,what people wear to town at home.
I am afraid I don't know about packing shorts,as it was still quite chilly at night in July. I heard there was even frost in June. Besides, with the concern of bugs,perhaps it is better cover up. It really depends on how you are used to the weather, I think a light-weight jacket is essential.
